They received a union complaint on Sonnen...
Based on a complaint from the union organization, Unite Here, the Massachusetts State Boxing Commission will hold a closed door meeting on Thursday (August 8) to decide if UFC fighter Chael Sonnen will receive a license for his fight at UFC Fight Night 26/UFC on Fox Sports 1.1.
Reportedly, a representative for the state's Department of Public Safety, who oversees the commission, has said that due to the complain, the commission elected to hold the meeting after its regular session will determine the issue of Sonnen's license. DPS spokesman, Terrel Harris stated, "The commissioners will sit in and they'll hammer out the issue. When they've made a final decision, they'll let everybody know what that decision was. Bottom line is that they have to do it relatively soon, because the fight's a week from Saturday."
You can read the complaint from Unite here at the above link. The complaint is directed at Sonnen's previous conviction in 2011 on a federal charge of money laundering and states that the commission has the right to deny his license based on Sonnen's "moral turpitude."
Chael Sonnen is still previously scheduled to face Mauricio Rua in the headlining fight at the event which is set for August 17 at the TD Garden in Boston.
Regarding the use of Sonnen's testosterone use, Harris also added, "The executive session is to determine what acceptable levels of testosterone are for people who have a medical reason for testosterone supplements. Right now, he's not even licensed."
